The Media Management and Economics Division’s program for the 2012 AEJMC convention is packed with sessions every day and includes a pre-convention offsite tour of the facilities of Crain Publications. Known for its strong business publications for more than 40 years, Crain is an essential media partner in Chicago and the nation. To join in the Wednesday morning session, contact Betsy Edgerton at bedgerton@colum.edu or  call at 773-307-1986.

Among our panel session offerings, two offer a rich background into the history of media management and the contributions of African-Americans to the development of journalism in the United States. The Media Management teaching history panel is slated for Friday from 5-6:30 p.m. and is expected to offer a lively discussion on the evolution of Media Management history and its teaching. This PF&R session is offered just before our members’ meeting, and we hope all will stay around and enjoy both the session and an update on our division’s state of affairs.

The Tribute to African-American contributions to journalism is scheduled for  Thursday from 5-6:30 p.m. This session will includes Barbara E. Allen, the founder of Middle Passages Productions and a documentarian on African American journalism.

We also have panels on Developing Research Partnerships with Media Organizations as well as a session on Social Media and Magazines. Both sessions are on Saturday.  The panels are in addition to three excellent refereed research sessions and a High Density session that features exceptional work. Two of our top papers are included in the High Density session.

All in all, this is shaping up to be another excellent convention for the Media Management and Economics Division. We will be excited to hear from you and look forward seeing you at the convention.

A complete breakout of MME sessions is found in the Convention Schedule link at the top of the page.
