We hope the fall semester is treating you well! The Media Management, Economics, and Entrepreneurship Division (MMEE) invites abstract submissions to be considered for presentation at the 2018 AEJMC Midwinter Conference. We are also starting to recruit reviewers for both midwinter and the national convention. Finally, we’re proud to announce the introduction of a new award to our division, the top reviewer award.
MMEE @ Midwinter
The University of Oklahoma will again host the 2018 AEJMC Midwinter Conference in the beautiful Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3, 2018. Look for something special this year – it will the 10th consecutive year for the Gaylord College at OU to host Midwinter!
This conference is a great opportunity for students and faculty to get initial feedback on their studies before the submission deadline for the national conference, and to get to present their research in an intimate, welcoming environment.
The deadline to submit to Midwinter is noon, Friday, December 1. Submit your abstracts of 600 to 800 words, excluding author information and references, to the AEJMC Midwinter conference via the new content management system. You’ll have to click the Sign Up Here link first, then select MMEE as your division when you submit. If you have any questions, please email MMEE Research Chairs, Ronen Shay firstname.lastname@example.org or Kelly Kaufhold email@example.com
Abstracts should give a clear sense of relevant literature, research objectives, methods employed, the stage of the research project and initial or expected findings and conclusions. Papers cannot be under review at other outlets (e.g., ICA). However, Midwinter submissions, even accepted papers, are eligible to be resubmitted to the national AEJMC conference April 1. The division will also honor the top paper at Midwinter.
Panel proposals are also welcome and we always need division members willing to serve as reviewers in December, and discussants and moderators in March. Please contact MMEE Research Chairs, Ronen Shay firstname.lastname@example.org or Kelly Kaufhold email@example.com if you’ll be available and are willing to help – thanks!
Review for MMEE!
We are on the lookout for reviewers for both midwinter and our national convention. If you are interested please fill out the form located at: https://goo.gl/forms/kqjnSUb2YiE7r49o2
We would also appreciate if you considered sharing this form with colleagues who you feel can judge papers on media management, economics, or entrepreneurship. They do not need to be a member of the division to review. Please note that individuals who submit papers to the division will not be eligible to review.
If you are not sure whether you will be submitting a paper this year, please consider volunteering anyway, as we can always remove your name later. As always, being a reviewer for MMEE does not prevent you from submitting or reviewing for other divisions.
Time for a new plaque…
We understand that completing a good review takes time, effort, and dedication. As a division, we are proud of the detailed feedback our submissions receive each and every year and want to encourage that level of quality on every review. It is with this in mind that we are happy to announce that we will be acknowledging the hard work of our dedicated reviewers by presenting a top reviewer award.
If you have any questions about midwinter, the new award, or volunteering to review, please reach out via email, or any of the official MMEE social media platforms using the hashtag #AskAboutMMEE
We love questions!
